Tudor Submariner 79090

This Tudor Submariner 79090, introduced to the market in 1989, is a remarkable dive watch that embodies the rich heritage of the Tudor brand. The reference 79090 is not a very common or often seen wristwatch, which is simply due to its low production numbers and slow sales numbers back in the early 1990’s. But, as interest in vintage Tudor Submariners, and the connection to Tudor’s historical dive watch lineage now continues to grow, the market value of well-preserved examples of the 79090 has steadily increased throughout the years, further solidifying the watch its (new) status as a true (neo-vintage) collector’s piece.

The Tudor Submariner 79090 offered here, features a 40mm stainless steel case with a fresh and original ‘top-hat’ plexiglass crystal, which in our humble opinion truly enhances this divers vintage charm. It is equipped with a bidirectional rotating bezel and offers water resistance up to 200 meters, making it a reliable companion for professional divers (however, since this is a vintage timepiece, we do not recommend  swimming or diving). The dial is super clean and highly legible, featuring bold hour markers and classic “Mercedes” hands – Both show a fantastic warm patina, with aged tritium showing a color best described as dark vanilla. Inside, the watch houses the automatic ETA 2824-2 movement, this movement is known for its reliability and ease of serviceability, which is a big improvement from the older Tudor Subs that housed FEF calibers for instance. This more modern movement inside a pure vintage shell, further cements this Submariners status as a functional and dependable tool watch. Furthermore, the 79090 vintage Submariner represents an important transitional period in the Tudor Submariner lineup; While it retained traditional elements like the plexiglass crystal and matte black dial, it also introduced modern updates such as the “Mercedes” hands and a quick-set function for the date. This fusion of vintage and contemporary design elements inside and early 1990’s Submariner, will give you the absolute best of both watch-worlds.

Our beloved Tudor Submariner 79090 with its near one-of-a-kind patina and clean overall look, was fully serviced and will be sold with our extensive two year warranty.
