Chopard L.U. Dual-Time

The L.U. Chopard Dual-Time is a distinctive rectangular wristwatch from the 1970s, notable for its dual time-zone functionality powered by two separate manual-wind movements. Its design reflects the bold and unconventional aesthetics of the era, making it a standout piece for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Crafted from 18k yellow gold, the case measures approximately 22mm in width and 35mm in length, with a thickness of around 5mm. The watch features a rectangular dual-dial layout, each with its own set of hands and crown, allowing independent time zone settings (local time and home time) you can designate one dial for your home time (your regular time zone) and the other dial can be set to the local time to where you are traveling. The gold and black dial lay-outs, adorned with sleek Roman numerals are still crisp and perfectly legible. The bottom part of the dial is starting to show some nice hazel-brown Tropical tones, which adds an extra layer to this watch’s wonderful vintage appearance. This Chopard Dual Time hails from a time before Chopard’s modern haute horlogerie era, yet it proudly carries the initials L.U.C. both on the dial and on the two winding crowns – a tribute to the brand’s founder, Louis-Ulysse Chopard, and a quiet reminder of its deep Swiss watchmaking roots. The watch is worn on a handmade, 17x14mm chocolate brown crocodile strap, and features a gold-plated, period correct generic buckle. The 18k golden watch case and winding crowns, remain unpolished with all gold hallmarks, stamps and case-back numbers clearly visible in the photo’s, and to the naked eye.

The Chopard 2030’s unique dual-movement design, coupled with its 1970s aesthetic and its small/limited production run, makes it a sought-after piece among vintage watch collectors. Its association with prestigious retailers like Cartier (some reference 2030 models were retailed by Cartier, featuring co-branding and subtle design differences) further enhances its desirability. The watch and its movements were serviced, and will be sold with our extensive two years of warranty.
